The Appeal

Any car featuring styling from the iconic Ghia design house is sure to attract attention, but this car in particular with its coupe shape has to be placed towards the top of the designer’s good pile. Furthermore, the more powerful engine found under the bonnet of this S variant means the surely pairs well with the great body work.

Finished in a classic Italian red colour and preserved brilliantly thanks to low mileage and a more than favourable climate, this is a wonderful example.

The Interior

Plenty of brown awaits anyone that jumps inside this 2300S Coupe. The seats, carpets and door cards are all adorned in a light brown fabric contrasted by the black leather dashboard. All in all, with the simple interior design, the cabin feels very much like a time capsule back to the sixties.

In places, that is also true in the condition of the car, notably the dashboard. Creases and folds can be seen throughout the dash with the instrument cluster being particularly guilty.

That being said, the car’s interior is far from a horrible place to be. Behind the large, wood-covered steering wheel, feel like an Italian from the swinging sixties driving your gorgeous Fiat 2300S Coupe through twisting mountain roads.

The cabin may be a wonderful place to be, but the true magic of this Fiat 2300S Coupe is on the outside. Designed by Carrozzeria Ghia, the Coupe version of the Fiat 2300 is a beautiful example of car design that would fit within any collector’s line-up.

From the angular front end decorated by the inoffensive round headlights to the curves of the wrap-around rear window and the lengthy tail. There isn’t a single element of this car’s design that feels out of place or wrongly proportioned.

Complimenting the body’s design are the wheels; Dino Abarth wheels made from magnesium were an optional extra from the factory and give the model a much sportier stance than the standard domed hub caps. This ties together with the additional performance offered by the ‘S’ variant of the 2300.

The Mechanics

With the ‘S’ variant, the 2300 comes with an uprated version of the 2.3-litre inline-six engine. Two twin-choke carburettors rather than a single one pump power output to 150hp from the standard model’s 118.

Elsewhere, the four-speed manual which came as standard with the car should offer a great driving experience. This car’s performance surely matches its looks.

Under the bonnet, everything looks in great shape as the car has clearly been well looked after, though a few signs of its age are apparent.

This Fiat 2300S Coupe is a beautifully preserved example of an equally stunning car. Great looks along with a nifty drivetrain on paper make this a brilliant addition to any Italian car collector’s roster.
