The Appeal

The CB450 is a rather significant bike in motoring history, representing Honda’s first true venture into the “big” bike market.

This of course would later lead to the introduction of the CB750, and subsequently Honda’s success over British rivals.
Very few examples of these fantastic bikes exist today to see the roads, with many having perished over the years. However, this particular example has been fully restored and now presents itself as one of the finest examples available worldwide.

This is certainly a rare opportunity for any enthusiast or collector.

The History and Paperwork

  • Restored to the highest of standards
  • 59k on the odometer
  • Garage stored
  • Maintained as part of a collection
  • Full working order
  • Recently serviced
  • V5C document present
  • Honda workshop manuals
This CB450 began life in 1967, as part of the early K0 and aptly named “Black Bomber” generation.

The bike has been enjoyed by just 6 former keepers, and now shows 59,876 miles on the clock. As a previous MOT certificate from 2004 will suggest, this mileage is believed to be accurate and has been retained following the restoration in 2003.
The restoration was carried out by the previous keeper, who stripped the bike down to the bare frame before commencing the project. No expense was spared throughout the process, with key attention paid to preserving as many original components as physically possible.

Key aspects of the restoration include a fully rebuilt engine, powder-coated frame, and new stainless steel bolts and nuts throughout most of the bike.
Following the restoration, the bike was seldom used and later put into storage with the last known road outing in 2008.

The vehicle was then acquired by the current owner, who has since treasured the bike as part of a collection, ensuring it is roadworthy for the lucky new owner.

The Exterior

  • Superb condition
  • Restored from the ground up
  • Laced stainless steel wheel spokes
  • Powder-coated frame
  • Gorgeous styling
This CB450 looks absolutely superb, having been restored by the previous owner from 2003 onwards.

As the vehicle has covered so few miles since its extensive restoration, there are very few signs of use or age to be found on the bike. This Honda still shows off its rich black powder-coated frame, stunning fuel tank, and matching badging.
The seat, handlebars, fork, lights, and exterior details follow suit, showing absolutely minimal defects.

Both wheels are also in excellent condition, albeit beginning to show signs of age in the form of slight corrosion as pictured. Both wheels are wrapped in Dunlop tyres, with plenty of tread for the new owner to enjoy.
The exterior condition of this Honda truly does reflect the attention to detail undertaken during the restoration process, and will no doubt continue to shine for many more years to come.

The Mechanics

  • Rebuilt engine
  • Performs without fault
  • Recently serviced
  • Electronic ignition
  • Uprated Mikuni carbs
  • David Silver exhaust
  • No expense spared
Buyers will be pleased to know this bike fires up with the first press of the button and happily purrs away, no doubt benefitting from its larger Mikuni carbs and electronic ignition.

As part of the restoration process, the engine has been fully rebuilt with high-end parts. The rebuild includes Nikasol plated alloy cylinders and polished casings.

In true Honda fashion, it’s rather quiet and unsuspecting at idle but will happily sing through the David Silver exhaust on full chat.
In order to ensure the bike was ready to see the road once more, the current keeper has fitted a new battery to the vehicle and has treated the bike to a full service.

With no mechanical or electrical faults to report, this is the perfect bike to enjoy this summer.

Summary

This Honda CB450 Black Bomber is in superb condition, proudly displaying many hours of labour, and thousands of pounds worth of restoration.

The bike performs without fault, benefiting from larger carbs, electronic ignition, and a new battery.

With very few examples of these available in such excellent condition, this presents a rare opportunity to own a truly spectacular and iconic motorcycle.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
