The Appeal

The Jaguar MkII is one of the defining British sporting saloons of the 1960s, pairing elegant styling and a richly appointed interior with performance that was notably strong for a four-door car of its era. Produced between 1959 and 1967, it also enjoyed considerable success in touring-car racing and rallying, helping to establish a reputation that extended well beyond its role as an upmarket executive saloon.

This 1967 example is powered by Jaguar’s 3.4-litre straight-six, paired with a smooth four-speed automatic transmission, and retains a particularly traditional specification with wire wheels, red leather upholstery and a burr walnut dashboard. A stainless-steel exhaust is also fitted, while a semi-power-steering conversion should make the car rather easier to manoeuvre at lower speeds.

The engine was fully rebuilt in 2016, while the seller advises that approximately £17,000 has been spent on the Jaguar since its purchase in 2019. Further work carried out in 2020 included a reconditioned gearbox, brake overhaul, radiator flush and carburettor setup, with only a few hundred miles reportedly covered during current ownership.

Previously used as a wedding car and garaged throughout the seller’s ownership, this handsome MkII is now offered for sale accompanied by a substantial collection of receipts detailing work undertaken over the years.
