1967 Lamborghini R226 Tractor

Highlights

  • Restored to a high standard
  • Refinished in its original period-correct colour scheme
  • Mechanically overhauled and subject to a recent service in readiness for sale
  • A rare find, especially in the UK - the R226 was manufactured only between 1967 - 1969

The Appeal

Handbuilding exotic supercars is an expensive business.
There would be no Muira, no Countach, no Murcielago and no Aventador if only Signor Lamborghini’s Ferrari 250 GT had fewer faults and even more importantly, if his agricultural machinery business had failed. Fortunately for us, a long-standing grudge against ‘Il Commendatore’ and a thriving agricultural machinery business gave Ferruccio Lamborghini the wherewithal to build some of the most enticing cars of all time.
For true marque enthusiasts, there’s no better way to pay homage to the great Ferruccio Lamborghini than to own one of his tractors. For collectors in the UK, this can prove challenging, as most examples are to be found in Europe. However, we’re delighted to offer this imported Lamborghini R226 which has been restored to a high standard.
The R226 was built for two years only, so is one of the rarer classic Lamborghini tractors and therefore immensely desirable. This example was expertly restored by its previous keeper and has since been well maintained following import to the UK. The vendor reports that it runs and drives well, benefitting from a recent service. For collectors seeking a display piece or even those who favour a classic tractor to work the land, this would be an excellent proposition.

The History and Paperwork

  • The previous (Italian) owner stated that this tractor was stored unused for many years prior to restoration
  • No documentation survives, which is not unusual for agricultural machinery of this vintage
  • Produced between 1967 and 1969, it not possible to ascertain the exact year this example was produced
  • We’re informed that all import and export documentation is complete
  • Subject to a recent service

The Condition

  • Restored and repainted chassis and bodywork
  • Besides a few chips and the odd mark commensurate with light use, the paintwork continues to present very well
  • The tinware is straight and seemingly free from corrosion
  • Original gauges are reportedly in good working order
  • New steering wheel fitted during the restoration
  • Original switches and lights present and in good order
  • New headlamps fitted
  • Original rear lights in good shape
  • Original labels and badges preserved wherever possible
  • New brass Lamborghini badge on the bonnet
  • The front agri tyres are brand new, whereas the rears have some wear and cracking, although hold air and remain eminently serviceable for this application

The Mechanics

  • 1,462 cc air-cooled twin-cylinder diesel engine
  • Six-speed gearbox
  • The engine was overhauled during the restoration and recently serviced
  • Efficient braking system - a rarity on classic tractors, especially Lamborghinis
  • Original exhaust - another rare find
  • New fuel tank cap
  • New fuel lines
  • New battery
  • The vendor reports that the tractor drives well
  • We understand the power takeoff (PTO) to be in working order
  • Smartly presented engine

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
