The Appeal
Such is the enduring popularity of Mercedes-Benz's ‘Pagoda’ that most have been carefully restored at great expense. For those seeking a project car on which to put their mark and specify to their expect requirements, the pickings are increasingly thin.
All of which makes this 1967 250SL appealing. It is a largely complete car in light blue that has been carefully dry stored since it arrived in the UK in 2022. Prior to that it was owned by the same Italian family for many decades.
The vendor tells us that it is a matching numbers with the correct 250 block. He says that virtually everything required to complete it is there, bar some minor trim elements. While the car doesnot run, we are told that the engine turns freely and is not seized.
With parts and knowledgeable specialists to complete these cars in ready supply, this looks like an interesting project for the right buyer.
The vendor says:
“A worthwhile project, lhd automatic with matching engine number and original ‘Hellblau’ or ‘Light Blue’ paint work as indicated on data card, solid shell, good interior, needs mechanical attention. Rare to find a Pagoda at this price point so would also make a worthy investment.”
