The Background
The MGB GT Is a 2+2 coupe made by British Motor Corporation (BMC) between 1965-1980. It was part of a variant range based on the MGB which also included a soft top and V8 version.
The car sold in decent numbers and was considered a more affordable 2 seater British sports car than some of the other options available at the time.
The shape is very recognisable to this day and its handling compliments its good looks, a desirable classic on a budget.
The current owner acquired the vehicle from the owner that did most of the restoration work. As mentioned, he was a hobbyist and so whilst the car has had a comprehensive restoration its not to concourse standard, more a tidy useable driver.
The current owner is looking slim down his holdings so unfortunately the MGB is looking for a new home.
The car comes with a current V5c and a number of photos documenting the restoration by the previous owner. REMEDIES-2.jpg1.09 MB
The Interior
The interior on this MGB is very tidy. The carpets, dash and seats are in good condition with only one small blemish on the passenger seat to note.
The controls and steering wheel show small signs of wear but overall it is very tidy. DSC_6335.jpg3.14 MB
The Exterior
The car received a restoration by the previous owner himself and the exterior was taken back and repainted as part of this work. There are photos to show the extent of this work and the panels that were replaced.
It is though that the previous owner repainted the car himself and so the paint work is not of concourse quality but tidy. There are a few blemishes and patches of fade on the exterior which have all been pictured.
The car sits on the more desirable wire wheels though they could do with re-chroming to bring the best out of them. DSC_6239.jpg1.79 MB
The Mechanics
Mechanically the car starts stops and runs as it should, it also sounds quite raspy which is a classic British sports car trait, not least helped by the stainless steel exhaust that’s fitted.
There are no untoward knocks and bangs and it’s pleasure to drive.
The MGB GT is part of the stable diet for any classic British Sports car fan. It's simple, easy to drive and gives a great return on smiles per mile especially in this price bracket. This may not be a concourse restoration but it’s a good useable example that has had a comprehensive amount of work done meaning you can throw it into some corners with confidence.
60s sports car thrills with just the right amount of frills, built for fun this one, why wouldn’t you want to take it home?
