The Appeal
The Phantom is a deeply, irrevocably stately car - the utmost luxury in a highly distinguished, slab-sided package. Only 516 of these were built between 1959 and 1968, and many saw themselves travelling with heads of state. Crewe had practically built the car with this in mind, having built the Phantom V with a low final drive ratio that allowed it to 'walk' in parades.
This example is a perfect reflection of exactly that. Originally ordered for the Pakistani President's estate, this fanciful limousine became a fixture as part of his official entourage, carrying a roof-mounted lamp (to signal the president was on board) and a particularly stately, crested two-tone livery.
From what can be ascertained, the car was repatriated to British climes in 1995, and would later see usage with a luxurious hotel in the Capital, where it was reportedly used for guests at a Royal Wedding. With documented low mileage and careful ownership history since being imported to the UK in 1995, this Phantom V boasts a truly unique provenance and an impressive stock of paperwork. What an opportunity!
