The T100C was a sales success on both sides of the Atlantic and was revised for the 1967 model year with improved front suspension and frame rigidity, which helped the handling of the machine considerably over previous models.
Still powered by the Triumph 500cc twin it was offered in 2 styles, an on-road version and the on/off road version, the T100C, which had a smaller tank, high mounted twin exhaust pipes and a skid-plate to protect the underside of the engine, along with knobbly style tyres and wider handlebars.
Imported from the USA in 2014 the T100C remained unused in a private collection until around three years ago when the current owner swapped another classic motorcycle for it.
Following its prolonged lack of use this T100 required only some very light restoration and recommissioning involving some tidying up of the wiring, new spark plugs and an engine service, after which the bike started on the first kick and is now running very sweetly and is a lovely early example of Triumph’s popular Tiger 100C 500cc twin.GCTfSLh1tfRhP8kVI6WElReidv1B0gkp6FDlmQGx.jpeg346.72 KB
The condition
Excellent original condition
All original chrome
The T100 has been kept as original as possible, only re-painting the tank to a high standard in the UK colour scheme of Pacific Blue and Arctic White with gold pin stripes.
The 500cc twin presents itself extremely well on all fronts, having the gentle patina of age and use on some of the chrome and its components, which gives it real classic character and charm.
The whole bike is in great overall condition and has had recent new Dunlop tyres of the correct specification fitted. Other than the light for the speedometer, which still needs to be fitted, the bike is ready to ride.
The mechanics and the electrics have all been thoroughly checked over, and it looks like the engine has attention at some time in its past, evidenced by the new gaskets.
The bike starts easily and runs very nicely with no nasty noises or smoke. Gear changes are nice and smooth and the drum brakes do a good job of shedding speed when called upon.
Looking good with a slightly aged patina the bike is easy and a pleasure to ride, making it a very useable classic bike and a very nice and original example of the Tiger 100C.UpAcsqgLYZKyzUnsILGFnnjdDC2xPgOPuz9uZf73.jpeg282.4 KB
The Summary
This is an excellent original bike with its two-tone paintwork, gear indicator and liberal use of chrome making for a great classic look. With the demand for these early British motorcycles continuing to grow, it probably makes for quite a shrewd investment too.
