1968 Land Rover Series 2A LWB

Highlights

  • Recently restored
  • Drives brilliantly
  • Looks spectacular
  • Desirable Series IIA

The Appeal

The Series II Land Rover is without a doubt one of the most iconic British vehicles ever built, known for its superb capability both on and off the road. The Series IIA differs slightly from the II, with minor cosmetic changes and new engine options. The Series IIA is commonly regarded as one of the more desirable models, that have become increasingly rare as time passes.
This particular example has just been restored by the current owner and looks absolutely fantastic. This Land Rover now performs without fault, and will surely make the perfect purchase for a collector, or someone looking to experience Land Rover’s legendary capability.

The History and Paperwork

  • Just 4 former owners
  • Recently restored
  • Well cared for
  • V5C document present
Rather remarkably given its age, this Series IIA has just 4 previous owners recorded on the V5C document, prior to being acquired by the current keeper. Throughout its time with the current owner, this Land Rover has been given much-needed attention and love, in the form of a rather thorough restoration as shown in the included images.
As detailed by the included invoices, the restoration process included a mechanical overhaul, new components, a fresh respray and more. Also included alongside the invoices, are the V5C document, and a Haynes Manual.

The Interior

  • Excellent condition
  • Recently restored
  • Some original components
  • Practical & spacious
  • New heater
It should hardly come as a surprise that these now 50+-year-old Land Rovers hardly boast a lavish interior packed with comforts, yet the interior remains a truly pleasant space to find yourself in. There’s plenty of room for cargo and passengers in the rear, and the front seats offer a welcome amount of comfort.
As the interior is mostly new, all seats are in superb condition, with hardly any noticeable signs of use. In fact, it is quite likely that the rear benches have never actually been properly used, as the vehicle has hardly been used since its restoration.
Throughout the interior, you’re greeted with plenty of tidied-up original components, along with fresh new blue paintwork wherever the eye can see. Various modifications have been made towards the rear of the vehicle, in the form of a custom rear door, with a gas strut for added ease.

The Exterior

  • Freshly painted exterior
  • Previously restored
  • Excellent condition
  • Striking colour combo
As part of the restoration process, the vehicle was given a fresh coat of paint, in Land Rover Shire Blue. Although not a common colour, the blue works perfectly against the white, giving this Series IIA a more modern, stylish aesthetic. Being so new, the paintwork is in excellent condition, with only ever so minor defects noticeable upon incredibly close inspection.
Moving around the vehicle, all trim pieces, lights and glass appear to be in similar condition, showing very few signs of age. All wheels are in a similar great condition and are wrapped in a set of Michelin 4x4 Off Road tyres with plenty of tread to enjoy.
Overall, this Land Rover Series IIA looks absolutely spectacular in its snazzy new paint job, and will no doubt continue to attract the admiration of onlookers wherever it may venture.

The Mechanics

  • Drives brilliantly
  • No known faults to note
  • Plenty of new components
  • Well maintained
As the vehicle has been given a mechanical overhaul, buyers will be pleased to know that this Land Rover fires up and drives without a single known fault. As the included invoices will reflect, the vehicle has been well maintained and treated to a host of new parts. The new parts include key items like a new condenser, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, a new fuel tank, new exhaust, a new heater kit and plenty more.
With no known mechanical or electrical issues to note, this Land Rover will no doubt live up to its reputation, and provide hours of capable motoring on or indeed off the road.

Summary

As time passes, few Land Rover Series IIA models stand as strong as this particular example. The vehicle has been restored, resprayed, treated to a host of new parts and now presents itself beautifully with no known mechanical issues. If you’re looking for an eye-catching Land Rover to explore with, this is the one for you.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
