The appeal
As a classic car buyer, one often hopes to find a vehicle where all the tedious hard work has already been done by someone else. That is exactly the case here: a 1968 Series IIA in the highly sought Marine Blue, which has recently benefited from a full “from scratch” restoration, where, as we were told, everything has been dismantled and rebuilt.
The condition of the photos is impressive and appears largely true to original form. The paint is well presented and there is a tan canvas roof that seems to have seen little use. The black vinyl interior, a three-seater, is equally well presented. There are a few points to note in the photos, but nothing that appears to go beyond cosmetic.
The restoration included the fitting of a galvanised chassis, a full repaint and a complete mechanical overhaul covering the engine, the gearbox, the transfer box and the carburettors. A 2024 MOT, now expired, is also available. Overall, this is a fine example of these rugged and highly regarded vehicles.image.png1.72 MB
