1968 Porsche 911E

Highlights

  • 52,000 recorded miles
  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Very rare to find such an original car
  • Only three previous owners from new

The Appeal

There are few cars as iconic as the 911 and this is one of the best we have seen. A very early example of a 911E, with only four owners from new, in excellent condition and with very low mileage it’s a great opportunity to own one of these fantastic cars.
Finished in white with gold badging on the rear this 911E is an exceptionally good looking car. It looks fantastic from every angle and just begs to be driven. Thanks to careful ownership and very low mileage it’s never been restored and is in highly original condition throughout.

The History and Paperwork

  • Purchased by Lady Oppenheimer directly from the Porsche stand in the 1968 Earls Court Motor Show
  • Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
  • MOT Exempt
  • V5 Present and correct
  • One owner from new to 2005
  • Rare Sportomatic supplement
  • Service stamps and historic MOTs document the very low mileage
  • Original drivers manual and service book
  • Earls Court Motor Show booklet, from which the car was bought

The Interior

  • Highly original and unrestored
  • Very good condition throughout
  • Black/Pepita leatherette with matching carpets
  • Classic Porsche styling
  • Missing passenger head rest
The inside of a classic 911 is a place we all want to find ourselves; few cars have the combination of looks and sheer driving pleasure that Porsche has created in the 911. It’s in excellent condition throughout and the black leatherette of the seats presents very well, showing little signs of their age.
The 911 badging on the dashboard looks great and all of the original features are present including the radio. The carpets, dashboard and door cards all look very good with the trim, switches and dials presenting very well. The headlining is original and presents well for its age.

The Exterior

  • Very good condition throughout
  • Highly original
  • Underside presents extremely well
  • Light Ivory paint in very good condition
  • Original Porsche wheels present very well
  • Trim and brightwork all in very good condition
  • Light lenses, windows and badges all look great
Finished in Light Ivory with gold badging this 911 is a fantastic looking car from every angle. As with the interior the condition is very good throughout with every aspect of the car presenting excellently.
Dry stored by the current owner and with very low mileage it makes for a classic 911E that's not only in great condition, but remains original and unrestored. All of the wheels present very well along with every other aspect of the car, from the trim to the lights, it looks simply fantastic. Even the underside looks like that of a much newer car, a testament to the care that has been taken with this 911.

The Mechanics

  • Starts easily and idles well
  • The owner informs us that the gearbox shifts through the gears as it should
  • The 1,991cc Porsche engine sounds fantastic
  • The owner reports that it drives perfectly
  • Highly original and unrestored
  • Very low mileage
As with every other aspect of this car it’s evident that it has been mechanically very well looked after. It starts easily and sounds absolutely fantastic with that distinctive 911 sound. It idles smoothly and we couldn’t hear any unusual noises from the car.
The engine bay is clean and tidy and it’s clear to see that this car has been very well looked after in every respect. The current owner informs us that the car drives perfectly, accelerating well, the Sportomatic system shifting gears easily and stopping quickly.

Summary

With only four owners, one of which being Lady Oppenheimer who owned the car from new right through until 2005, in great condition throughout, with low mileage and being un-restored and highly original this is a unique opportunity to acquire a fantastic 911E that would make any collector proud, after all

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
