The Appeal

The curvaceous Karmann Ghia cleverly transformed the ‘people’s car’ into a coupe and convertible sought after by Hollywood glitterati and style-makers. These expensive cars were virtually handmade, their bodies assembled using hand-smith lead loading and but-welded edge-to-edge by hand.

This RHD convertible arrived in the UK in 2021 and has been with the current keeper since 2023. We’re told it now has a 1,600cc engine, rather than the original 1,500cc unit, and has undergone a bare-metal respray, with many new parts reported. The car was originally an Automatic, hence the badging, but due to poor parts supply on that unit, the car was was converted to a manual gearbox after the vendor bought it. It still presents well in photos and is said to run and drive smoothly. This is a pretty and well-presented example of this popular convertible.
