The Appeal
A dream motorcycle for many, us included, the Triumph TR6C was designed to dominate both on and off the beaten track. The latter was especially important if Triumph's new model was to appeal to the American market, as off-road motorcycle racing was all the rage during this period. Just watch the 1971 film 'On Any Sunday', and you'll see what we're talking about. The TR6 was favoured by none other than the 'King of Cool' Steve McQueen. He and stunt rider/bike dealer Bud Ekins would use nothing else for the chase scenes in WW2 motion picture 'The Great Escape'
This 1969 Competition example is simply stunning. Just look at it.
This is a freshly restored bike, tastefully customised to the vendor's specifications.
The vendor says:
"The bike, including the engine, has been completely rebuilt and repainted. All parts have either been sourced from our own NOS or been renovated as new. Full engine tear-down again using genuine parts when available and using companies that only use factory tooling, like many other bike builders. The crank has been balanced to Triumph spec, the notorious sludge trap has been replaced, and all the bearings have been replaced. Running 9/1 pistons + 20 re-bore, completely rebuilt head including all new parts.
"I would summarise the bike as the right side of loud, it genuinely makes you smile as you ride the machine. It is only my take on what I think looks correct, and although it has a custom look and modern components, underneath the bike frame and engine are factory correct and a genuine bike."
