This Porsche 356 Speedster may not be the real deal but it still provides all the right charisma and attraction.
Based on the VW Beetle, this kit car uses many of its original parts. From the chassis, to the engine, steering, and running gear.
The famous two seater sports car is an impressive looking motor, with a distinctive low and long design it’s an eye magnet wherever it goes and certainly brings a uniqueness hard to match to the roads.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
V5c present
Pilgrim purchase documents
Maintenance invoices
Past MOT’s
Supplied by Pilgrim in 2008 the car has spent time in Essex prior to arriving with its current owner in North Devon.
The paperwork includes details of the purchase from Pilgrim, past MOT’s, invoices from VAG specialists including a record of substantial work carried out in 2018. In addition, photos of the car’s body conversion and paint are also present.
THE INTERIOR
Brown tan leather
Matching carpet
Minor marks on rear seats
Tan brown is the theme throughout the interior of this car, the front bucket seats are in good condition, with only the tiniest of marks and provide a low, laidback seating position formula one drivers would be familiar with.
The rear seats are in similar condition overall but the backrest does have a more noticeable blemish, something that might clean off mind. Carpets throughout are in great condition and match the leather seats and tie in with the door cards and dash beautifully.
THE EXTERIOR
Paint blemishes starting to appear
Chromework & black hood in good order
First things first, the car looks glorious.
The low, long profile stands out from the crowd, turning heads down every street it cruises, igniting imagination and raising questions from many passersby.
The original 356 was Porsche introducing themselves to the world, showcasing the prestigious and superb that can be achieved. The Pilgrim pays homage to a car that started Porsche’s journey of being one of the worlds greatest car manufacturers and provides an obtainable option to the average enthusiast who like the rest of us could only dream of owning the real thing.
On to the condition and generally it's good, however areas of the paintwork are starting to show early signs of blistering. The chromework around the car is in good shape, badges, mirrors, bumpers all appear to be free from any issues.
The chrome wheel caps are showing indications of age but overall okay.
THE MECHANICS
Runs and Drives
New battery being fitted
12 months MOT will be carried out
During our visit the car was started and drove a short distance down the road slightly to a nearby location for the photos, it ran smoothly and drove without any dramatics.
A replacement engine was fitted in 2018 by a VW specialist and only a few hundred miles have been covered since. We have been made aware that a new battery, new brakes and 12 months MOT will be completed prior to the sale.
SUMMARY
A unique opportunity to own a replica of Porches first production car the 356, made by an established kit car manufacturer.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Automatically outbid immediately
When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
Problem with your bid
Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
