The Appeal

The TR6’s success meant that Triumph didn’t need to improve it to sell more. Luckily, the enthusiasm these cars now inspires means that an army of owners and specialists have done exactly that.
This car proves the point. Save for the chrome wires, it looks like a factory-standard 1970 TR6, right down to the VIN-correct interior with its round gear knob. But the current keeper, a long-term enthusiast, has sympathetically upgraded it so that it runs and drives arguably better than the day it left the factory 55 years ago. 
The upgrades include a gearbox rebuild only 500 miles ago, a new rear diff, updated and restored propshaft, lightened and balanced flywheel, Koni fully adjustable shocks, vented brakes, rear new drive shafts updated, Verona timing gear, head gasket copper re-done, aluminium radiator, braided fuel and break hoses, electronic ignition, electric fan, updated starter motor, new battery and a new colour-matched-for-year wire loom.
That final detail is very telling because the current keeper has taken great care to replicate features that are spot-on for a 1969-built, 1970-registered TR6. For example, the colour and interior are correct and experts will note an array of other similar details. We’ll leave those as ‘easter eggs’ for you to spot in the photos!
The car was comprehensively restored a few years ago and is in very good condition. The vendor tells us that it has been driven rather than stored and shown, so there are a few minor indications of use, but nothing seriously detrimental.
If you’re looking for a smart, well-sorted TR6 with the sort of sympathetic upgrades that mean it can be really driven and enjoyed, then you’re in luck here. 
The vendor says: 
“Car needs an owner who either wants to take it to the next level, or drive it as is. It is mechanically very strong within the original constraints.
I made the car as close to how someone would have wanted a TR6 to be back in 1970.
Pulls well, starts and runs without the old unreliable bits haha! The car has been 100% reliable since the rebuild. It loves to be driven!”

  • Matching classic-style Michelin tyres all round which are in good condition with plenty of tread
  • Underside presents well in photos and was restored during the renovation process
  • Recently fitted with new black hood and tonneau cover
  • Vendor advises that there are a couple of inner hood clips that need attention 
  • Hood works correctly and shows clear, undamage screens 
  • New VIN-matched interior and carpets, maintaining period-correct aesthetics
  • Black vinyl seats, door cards and matching carpets all in good order
  • Veneer dashboard presents well with clear decals as shown in photos
