The Appeal
The 450R/T was Ducati’s perhaps slightly reluctant entry into the highly competitive world of American scrambler bikes. With its clever Desmodronic engine, it was technologically advanced, noted for its power and smoothness at high revs.
In period, it wasn’t a huge success and lasted only three years from 1971 to 1974. All of which makes survivors like this one a rare find for collectors. This bike is said to have arrived in the UK from the USA in 2012 and has been with the current keeper since 2013. Retaining its distinctive yellow paintwork plus rare original lighting kit, it is a reminder of how stylish these Ducati scramblers were.
The bike has been little used over the last 10 years so will likely require some recommissioning if you plan to use it. Alternatively, it would make a great addition to any static collection and is certain to be a talking piece.
