1971 Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF

Highlights

  • Revision valid until 31/12/2025
  • ASI registered
  • Only 4,198 kilometres after extensive restoration

The Attractions

Having won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1972, the Fulvia Coupé 1.6 HF was the first in Lancia's glorious series of hugely successful rally cars, which would later include the Stratos, 037 and Delta S4. To homologate the Fulvia for racing, a special 1600 HF road version was also offered for sale and we are pleased to offer a 1971 example of this model.

This Lancia has recently undergone an extensive restoration that has made it one of the highest quality examples of the coveted 1600 HF that can be found. As a result, it presents itself impeccably in every respect and is in exceptional condition even in the less visible areas. It is also registered with the ASI and has an overhaul valid until December 2025.

Run in for 4,198 kilometres and freshly tuned, this rally-born Lancia is ready to go.

History and Documentation

  • Left-hand drive
  • Located in Italy
  • ASI registered
  • Overhaul valid until 31/12/2025
  • Odometer was reset to zero after restoration and currently shows 4,198 kilometres
  • Preserves original colours and fittings

Condition

  • The car was completely disassembled, the body sandblasted, repaired and then repainted
  • Refinished in its original red to a high standard and then professionally polished to a beautiful shine
  • The original alloy wheels are beautifully presented and appear to be in excellent condition
  • We have been informed that the upholstery is new, as are the seals and carpeting
  • No obvious signs of use - consistent with the low mileage after restoration
For those looking for a restoration project, this is not the right car, as every aspect has received the utmost care to prepare it for its next keeper. It is particularly commendable that the restoration respected the car's originality, retaining the original colours and interior trim specifications. It presents itself beautifully in every respect and the underbody looks particularly attractive, with brilliant undercoats in their new red paint. There are very few notable imperfections or signs of corrosion.

The Mechanics

  • 1.6-litre V4 engine
  • Five-speed manual gearbox
  • Front-wheel drive
  • The seller reports that many mechanical components have been replaced
  • Well-presented engine compartment
After being acquired by the seller, the car received thorough attention from a specialist in Rome who carried out various jobs including replacing the timing chain and brake master cylinder and overhauling the carburettor. In addition, the cooling system and cabin heater were rebuilt. The entire electrical system was overhauled and we are told that it is now fully functional.

All Fulvias are exceptional to drive, but few are as capable as the much sought-after 1600 HF, which benefits from the higher performance that comes with this model's celebrated handling and high-level road-holding. We are told that this example drives very well and the seller reports no problems.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
€0 to €9,999 €100.00
€10,000 to €49,999 €250.00
€50,000 to €99,999 €500.00
€100,000 + €1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
