The Appeal
The W108 was one of Merc's many masterstrokes, borne from an era with rock-solid engineering and distinguished styling when they were perhaps the greatest car-builders in the world. Manual examples are exceptionally rare, particularly with the characterful column shift arrangement.
This 1970 example comes to market as a South African import now registered on UK plates, benefiting from that country's dry climate with a good, solid underside that has been further protected by undersealing during the current ownership. The vendor has owned the car since 2020 and reports that the car's quiet, comfortable lifestyle - and the impressive swathes of work completed - has led to a particularly handsome saloon.
The car comes with the reassurance of a recent MOT valid to December 2026, with the only advisory relating to the brakes having been addressed. Both the original radio and a period-styled modern Bluetooth unit are included in the sale.
