The Appeal
The Capri was, and is, brilliant and here’s a reminder why. This early MkI shows just how well Ford Europe translated the Mustang concept for local buyers, in the process virtually creating the market for ‘family sports cars.’
This early pre-facelift Kent-engined ‘XL’ is finished in period-perfect bronze with matching interior. It is a well preserved and entirely factory standard car. As such, it is a great opportunity for the classic Capri enthusiast and a great base for a rolling restoration.
It has had two keepers from new, the current one since 1992, and displays under 55,000 miles from new, which is backed by old MOTs.

The Condition
- Smart and apparently original Bronze metallic paintwork
- Paintwork shows some marks and deterioration typical of age

- Standard and unmodified ‘XL’ model with steel wheels and chrome hub caps
- Exterior chromework, including bumpers, is complete and well-kept
- Tyres appear to be old but are in fair condition
- Very well preserved brown vinyl interior in good order
- There are some minor points to note to the interior in the photos
- These include a small area of damage to the passenger door card
- Door cards, dashboard, faux veneers and carpets in good original condition
- Headlining appears to be in good condition in photos
