The Appeal
When the Range Rover arrived in 1970, it redefined what a 4x4 could be. There was no British alternative - nothing, really, outside of the USA that could hold a candle to its do-anything, go-anywhere standard. It practically created our modern image of the SUV, and the pioneering, entirely pure-blooded 'Suffix-A' cars are now highly prized.
This particular vehicle was acquired by the current owner in October 2014 and entrusted to A&D 4x4, an independent Land Rover specialist, for a thorough restoration that ran from May 2015 to August 2017. The owner's guiding philosophy was originality with a nod to safe and practical usability, and the result reflects that ethos. The body shell was stripped to bare metal, acid-dipped, repaired where necessary and refinished in Lincoln Green, one of the original colours for the model year.
The interior was re-trimmed by Nationwide Trim of Worcestershire in material similar to the original, covering seats, headlining, floor covering and door trim. Underneath, the chassis was galvanised and finished with the Raptor paint system, while the original engine and transmission components were stripped and refurbished.
Most original components were retained, refurbished and re-fitted throughout the process, and the work is supported by extensive documentation including invoices, correspondence, restoration photographs and a certified copy of the Factory Record. For those seeking an early Range Rover Classic restored with care and a clear focus on authenticity, this is a compelling proposition.image.png1.49 MB

✓ We request that a non-refundable fee be paid if you are the lucky winning bidder at auction or if your offer is accepted Please refer to our helpful FAQs and T&Cs for specific rates.

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
✓ Buyers are responsible for vehicle collection
