1972 Triumph GT6 MK3

Highlights

  • Fully restored some years ago but very well kept and wears light patina - Classic colour combination of Pimento red with black interior
  • 4 Speed manual
  • Owned and self maintained for around 30 years

The Appeal

This spectacular example has been beautifully restored some years ago but has been fastidiously maintained, resulting in a gorgeous shine on the outside, a well put together, comfortable interior and a classic feel. The car feels like an original example having not seen any restoration for so long and having been kept dry and clean has preserved the lovely bodywork very well.

The History and Paperwork

  • V5 boasting just 2 previous keepers
  • Current keeper acquired the car around 3 decades ago
  • Vast quantities of paperwork backing up maintenance by the owner
  • Selection of original Triumph booklets

The Interior

  • Exceptional condition with minimal wear but and original look and feel but may need minimal amount of work to become pristine
  • Very clean throughout, evidently well loved and cherished

Presented with a wood trim dashboard, dials have minor ingress of dust in places but this does not affect legibility, with surrounding plastics and switches showing some light patina - Vendor has evidently endeavoured to keep everything as original and correct as possible giving a true classic feel

The Exterior

  • Stunning and glossy Pimento red paintwork, finished very well with and even finish - Simple steel wheels are in top order and suit the car very well
  • All the chrome work is in nice order with light patina in places and no damage evident that we saw
  • Some very light corrosion is present along the very bottom of the sills and would be easily remedied
  • Badges, lights and trims are all presented well with usual signs of age but ultimately all very nice

The Mechanics

  • 2.0 Litre in-line 6 cylinder petrol with neat silver and black paintwork
  • Original and very clean engine bay with evidence of lots of attention to maintenance down to the simplest jubilee clips
  • Engine bay clean and very well presented and would not look out of place at any car show - Suspension and undercarriage are in very good order again with evidence of many new parts particularly on the front suspension
  • Chassis, wheels and suspension parts all powder coated

Summary

A proper delight and throwback to the early seventies, this is a triumph of a Triumph, boasting an original look and feel yet having the backup of excellent maintenance and care for a very long time by one owner.

This example will no doubt be a sound investment but also be a reliable and enjoyable addition to any enthusiasts collection.

The safest way to buy a classic car online

Car & Classic's secure payment system protects buyers and sellers. At the end of the auction, the winning bidder transfers payment into a third-party escrow account. Once the transfer of the vehicle is complete, both parties confirm they are happy with the sale and the money is released to the seller.
Safe, secure payment process

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

C&C prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3-minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £10,000 £100.00
£10,000 to £50,000 £250.00
£50,000 to £100,000 £500.00
£100,000+ £1000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you’re able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
