Sir William Lyons' final design masterpiece, the Series 1 XJ6 is widely regarded as one of the most elegant saloons ever produced. Before the XJ, Jaguar’s four-door lineup was fragmented and confusing, consisting of the Mark 2, S-Type, and Mark X. The XJ replaced them all with a singular, lower, sleeker, and more modern silhouette. The name and essential concept would endure until 2019 - a testament to how brilliant the XJ was.
A 4.2-litre Series 1, with its silky straight-six and three-speed automatic gearbox, offered effortless performance.
This 1973 example wears a rare and particularly handsome period combination of British Racing Green over Moss Green leather, a pairing that complements the car's flowing lines beautifully. Described by the vendor as factory-correct, highly original, and unmodified, its authenticity is underpinned by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
