1973 Volkswagen Type 2 Hightop Camper

Highlights

  • Original RHD Microbus
  • Older restoration holding up well
  • Remanufactured engine fitted in 2020
  • Retrimmed interior in fresh and bright condition

The Appeal

The VW Type 2 is one of the most recognisable vehicles of all-time, loved and adored and at its most popular when converted into a camper van.
This genuine Microbus comes with a rock’n’roll double bed and was retrimmed when restored to keep it fresh and modern. It was rebuilt, according to the service history, in 2005 and received substantial body repairs and a complete respray in its original colour scheme.

17 years on, this Volkswagen still looks very smart and in solid order. It’s tax and MOT exempt, clean and comfortable inside and finished in a great colour scheme. It comes with everything you might need for classic-themed weekends away – including the kitchen sink!

The market for VW Type 2 campers is as lively as ever and right-hand-drive models command a premium. This one is a fairly early bay window model in largely very good order, and in mechanically well-sorted condition. It presents well overall and is a perfect way into the perennially popular VW scene.
