When it debuted in 1969, the Datsun 240Z was the first Japanese car to acquire a waiting list, such was the demand for its great value and terrific good looks.
Indeed, so popular was the “Japanese Mustang” that European sales were delayed by a year to keep up with demand elsewhere.
Even in standard form, it was a very cool thing – but that didn’t stop it from also becoming a big hit with modifiers keen to exploit its delicate rear-drive chassis. This one doesn’t look too far from standard but is a pretty substantial resto-mod, with a larger 2.8-litre engine built by Janspeed – a company with a long heritage of tuning Nissans and Datsuns and a one-time partner of the company’s official motorsport activities. In other words, it has been done properly.
It was built in the 2000s to a very high standard and still looks great today – and boy is it quick….

SUMMARY
There are modifications… and there are professionally built, proper conversions. There is no doubting that this is the latter – a properly built and beautifully finished example of a resto-mod performance car, with subtle but beguiling looks that belie its genuinely hardcore performance. This is a fabulous car and there’s a lot of fun to be had from it, but it’s not for the faint-hearted. It’s a real weapon.
The car starts and drives with no obvious faults being evident other than those noted but having said that the vehicle is being sold as requiring a good going over before any use as there may be faults which are not noted.
