1975 Siva Llama

Highlights

  • One of only approximately 50 Siva Llama models ever built
  • Single owner since new
  • Previously restored in 2008
  • Dry-stored since restoration

The Appeal

Based in Aylesbury for all of their short six years on the market, Siva were quite an impressive little enterprise. Building increasingly elaborate kit cars like Mini-derived beach buggies and Doctor Who's legendary 'Bessie', though, didn't quite cut the mustard for their ambitions, which led to projects like this - the Llama.

Taking cues from cars such as the Citroën Méhari and the Mini Moke, this scoop-fronted field car was part of the leisure explosion of the 1970s. Only around 50 of these were built, and only a few are known to still be trucking along. They're certainly headturners, and thanks to the Hillman Imp running gear, are pretty effortless to look after. Indeed, it was only Chrysler's sudden ending of the Imp's production that halted production.
This particular example stands out for its remarkable single-ownership history since new in 1975, and it's a very fine car indeed, having benefited from a restoration in 2008. While requiring some recommissioning work following a long period of storage, the vehicle's highly original condition and proven provenance will no doubt make it an attractive proposition for the discerning collector.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own  full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
