The Appeal
Embraced by the countercultural 'hippie' movement from the mid-1960s onwards, the Volkswagen Type 2's simple, utilitarian design was suited to self-sufficient young concertgoers and protesters. And the image has stuck ever since—quite the rebrand for Volkswagen, which began life in 1930s Germany.
The vendor acquired this distinctive Type 2 in order to attend Glastonbury Festival each year. They bought the van in 2006 from a couple who had carried out a comprehensive restoration. It's a factory Microbus, subject to a period Devon camper conversion. As the photographs show, the VW is in very good condition throughout, and we're assured that it drives very well on its reconditioned replacement engine. Annual servicing is attended to by 'Campervan Steve' at Anderton MOT, and the van has recently passed MOT with no advisories.image.png4.6 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
