The Appeal
Rarer than its panel van and Microbus siblings, the Type 2 pick-up's honest, utilitarian charm and sheer versatility have made for a particularly pleasant niche classic. Simple air-cooled mechanics, an impressively vast rear bed and an easy-going retro character - it's quite the formula.
This 1975 Combi pick-up in sky blue presents a compelling opportunity. Originally a single-owner vehicle from Brisighella, Italy, it was later acquired and underwent a thorough restoration. The vehicle was fully dismantled, mounted on a rotisserie, and reassembled to original specification, with all damaged areas either replaced or restored and the paintwork carried out by a professional body shop.
Mechanically, the original engine has been replaced with a reconditioned 1,600cc unit, and new running gear, brakes, and tyres have been fitted. Since the current owner's purchase in July 2023, a new cover and roll bars from Serial Kombi have been added, along with a period roof rack. The vehicle is kept garaged, and the vendor notes that it's in fine order.
