The Appeal
With race-bred performance and striking aesthetics, BMW's R90S is one of the most iconic motorcycles of its era. Launched in 1973 to celebrate BMW's racing successes, the R90S was the fastest production motorcycle BMW had ever built, and its distinctive 'Daytona' orange livery with white and black striping made it instantly recognisable. Today, original examples in good order command serious attention from collectors worldwide.
This particular 1976 example presents a compelling opportunity for enthusiasts. Commissioned through BaMW specialists in September 2017 to source a low-mileage R90S in the desirable Daytona orange, the bike has been carefully maintained as part of a private motorcycle collection ever since. The vendor reports that whilst it hasn't been used on the road since acquisition, the engine has been started and the brakes tested every six months to keep everything in proper working order.
The bike benefits from comprehensive documentation, including a full ownership journal, service history documents, and MOTs dating back to 1980. Upon acquisition in 2017, BaMW completed a thorough inspection and service, during which the front forks were removed and serviced, both brake callipers were refurbished and re-bled, and the non-original billet top yoke was replaced with the correct original chrome item. The bike retains its original character and comes properly equipped with OEM factory panniers, chrome frame, and chrome crash bars.
For collectors seeking an original R90S with proper provenance and careful custodianship, this represents an opportunity to acquire a well-documented example of BMW's seminal superbike.BMW R90S 252.JPG7.87 MB
