The Appeal
The Ford Cortina 2000 GT represents one of Britain's most beloved family cars of the 1970s, with the GT specification offering enhanced performance and sporting credentials over standard models. This particular example stands out, though, as it's the ultra-rare convertible variant converted in period by the well-known company Crayford.
The vendor tells us:
"I have inherited the car from my dad, we sadly lost him aged just 57 at the end of 2023. The car was his pride and joy, and he bought it from Londonderry in 2014. He had one in his younger years and was made up when he found one for sale, and an added bonus was that it’s convertible! He then spent 6 years restoring it, including a new vinyl roof, paint respray, upholstery and more recently, power-assisted steering. It has been kept in the garage since he acquired it and only driven on dry days!
"The Cortina is a stunning car. It turns heads whenever it is driven and I often get thumbs up from people as I drive by! The drive is surprisingly fun and comfortable considering the car is almost double my age! It’s the perfect convertible drive for a summer’s day."
The vendor notes that the engine starts easily when used regularly; occasionally requires a jump pack after sitting

Hi could you tell me if your cortina still has the clutch cable type with the manual adjustment. Thanks

I believe the engine is original. I have found a receipt from 2015 which includes a timing belt kit; however, I have it on good authority that the timing belt was changed at the last service but unfortunately cannot locate the paperwork to support this.
