Original right-hand drive example with a 2.0-litre engine and five-speed manual gearbox
Recent £5,000 investment mechanically
The Appeal
Intended as a more affordable alternative to the 2000 GT of James Bond fame, the Celica GT was launched as a fastback coupé alongside the Carina saloon in 1970.
We understand this 1976 example to be a post-October 1975 facelift car. With its RA28 chassis prefix, it's likely a Japanese home market 'Liftback' model with the well-regarded 2.0-litre engine and five-speed manual gearbox.
As the photographs show, this is a well-presented example with an attractive time-earned patina. A great deal of recent mechanical work has been carried out, including an overhaul of the fuel/ignition systems, throttle linkage and brake rebuild.
Exempt from road tax, MOT and ready to go, this Celica is a great choice for anyone seeking a lesser-spotted sporting coupé.
