The Appeal
The second generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 hit the market in 1967 - and propelled itself into pop culture status very quickly. With its simple mechanics, uncluttered aesthetics and range of body styles, the Type 2 quickly became an icon, especially for the growing nomadic movement that was developing across Europe and the USA.
This particular Kombi, affectionately named Beryl, spent most of its life in the dry climate of South Africa, where the hot, dry climate has clearly been a benefit - Beryl is remarkably well-preserved, free from the corrosion that so many of her European peers tend to develop.
This fine example of a T2 has been meticulously maintained, with a comprehensive service history that includes original service books and stamps from South Africa, as well as receipts for maintenance work done in the UK. We're told this lovely Kombi is in excellent mechanical order, ready and waiting to go at the lucky buyer's convenience.
