The first-generation Toyota Celica Liftback is now considered one of the most iconic Japanese coupes of the 1970s. With its fastback silhouette inspired by the grand American coupes of the era, its large rear window, and its practical hatchback, it forged a unique identity that continues to appeal to collectors.
Well-preserved examples are now difficult to find, making this 2000 Celica ST Liftback particularly desirable.
Its history is indeed unusual. After belonging to its first owner until 1983, this Toyota entered a private collection where it remained preserved for over thirty-five years. Acquired by its current owner in 2019, it has since undergone a comprehensive restoration encompassing the mechanics, chassis, and bodywork.
The 2.0-litre 18R engine was completely rebuilt, whilst the braking system, cooling system, and suspension were also overhauled. The bodywork has been repainted in its original "Orion Turquoise" colour, a shade particularly representative of Toyota production in the 1970s. The seller also specifies that the interior remains largely original and is in very good condition.
According to the seller, this Celica offers reliable and enjoyable driving today, combined with the characteristic style that made the model so successful.
