The Appeal
The FJ55 is the rarest and most characterful member of the classic Land Cruiser family. Affectionately known as the "Iron Pig" for its distinctive wagon silhouette, it was produced in limited numbers between 1967 and 1980, and has become increasingly scarce. These were cars bred for the harshest environments in the world, largely tested in the Australian outback, and many have seen remarkably rough lives.
This 1977 example was imported from Australia and is now fully registered on UK plates. The vendor reports that it was stored for most of its life before undergoing professional bodywork, during which rust was removed, new metal was let in, and the body was repainted. The result is a fine, solid car with plenty of period originality. The 4.2-litre straight-six engine is reported to start and run well, and all mechanical components are said to be original. 1-static-1294.jpg646.67 KB
