Highlights
- Previously treated to a body-off restoration
- Further improvements carried out during current ownership include sunroof restoration, replacement bumpers, and renewed cylinder heads and valves
- Sensitively upgraded with electronic ignition and alloy timing gear
- Driven and enjoyed regularly, and described by the seller as being in good condition
The Appeal
TVR was founded by Trevor Wilkinson in 1947, with the marque’s road cars consistently adhering to an ethos centred around performance, light weight and agility. The Taimar was no exception, weighing little more than a tonne yet powered by a torquey Ford V6 shared with models such as the Granada, Consul and Capri.
Restored under previous ownership, this example has not simply been hidden away as a ‘garage queen’, but instead carefully maintained and regularly enjoyed at summer car shows and on countryside drives. As modern performance cars continue to grow larger, heavier and increasingly complex, lightweight analogue sports cars such as the Taimar have become all the more appealing. Sensibly upgraded with electronic ignition for improved reliability, it would make an ideal entry point into classic car ownership while remaining a rewarding companion for spirited weekend motoring.
