The marriage of William Towns and Tadek Marek, skilfully orchestrated by Aston Martin, gave birth to one of the greatest GT cars of the 1970s, simply named the V8. Traditionally sandwiched between the Bond-inspired cars of the 60s and the revival of the 90s, these beautiful cars are enjoying a resurgence.
The 3 Series reintroduced the more reliable Weber carburettor system, making these mid-period cars particularly desirable. Only 967 left the factory. This car was originally finished in Madagascar Brown with Magnolia leather, but now sports a more popular blue paint scheme.
Over the past two years, the paintwork and luxurious interior have been carefully refurbished. The latter retains a beautiful patina of light ageing which adds extra character to this car.
This car was imported into the EU 2.5 years ago. It is accompanied by French document 846A as proof that European VAT has been paid. The car is currently unregistered for road use and the seller indicates that it needs some care to be put back on the road.

The seller writes : "The Aston Martin V8 Series 3 was introduced in August 1973. The car had the important difference that the Bosch fuel injection was replaced by the more reliable Weber four twin body carburettors. The V8's performance at low revs became noticeably smoother. In January 1977, the engine was modified for a 'Stage 1' tune-up with new camshafts and an exhaust system developed for the V8 Vantage."
"Standard model power was now in excess of 300bhp and in manual transmission form the V8 could reach 100mph in around 13.5 seconds and exceed 160mph at full throttle, with the automatic not far behind. The last 3 Series cars were produced in October 1978, by which time a total of 967 3 Series V8s had rolled off the production line at Newport Pagnell. Each car took around 1,200 hours to build.
"Chassis number 'V8/11868/RCAS' was delivered via Aston Martin (Sales) Ltd, leaving the Newport Pagnell factory finished in Madagascar Brown with Magnolia interior trim and fitted with bumpers; two Rearguard fog lights and a locking central armrest.
"On file is an original UK V5 registration document. The car's MOT expired on 11.3.2011 and it has been off the road since then. The odometer currently shows a total of 6,910 miles (MOT 23.6.2006 (5,682 miles). The UK V5 registration document on file records the owner at the time of issue as one Paul Salisbury of Dorset and prior to that (from 27 October 2007) as Miss Samantha Vincent, also of Dorset."
