The Appeal
Ford was all about customer customising, offering buyers a huge range of options to improve and upgrade their standard cars.
What Ford began, this car has taken to its very logical conclusion. It started life as a 1978 RS1600, but it’s a long way from that now. The car runs a 16V turbocharged Cosworth engine that is good for 300hp. To put all that power on the ground it has a 4x4 drivetrain. This really is a truly remarkable and perhaps unique vehicle.
The rest of the mechanicals have been upgraded to match the prodigious performance. Highlights include a Cosworth T5 gearbox, upgraded intercooler and new radiator, new water pump, new fuel injectors, and a heavy-duty cylinder head. The vendor tells us that the current set-up has the potential to exceed 600hp.
Beautifully finished in dark blue with a well-specified cabin, this is a remarkable car in great order with huge ability and potential. One for real drivers.
