The Appeal
The second-gen Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow brought in a range of changes for the changing market. This iteration of the Rolls-Royce flagship brought improved handling through rack and pinion steering, along with updated front suspension. While previous Rollers had chauffeurs in mind, this was a truly driver-focused vehicle - for the well-to-do to take out onto the road personally.
This 1978 example, finished in a stylish Shell Grey on a contrasting Red cabin, comes with impressive documentation including its original build sheet and invoice from Appleyard Rippon of Leeds. Having primarily resided in Yorkshire throughout its life, it has recently proven its mechanical reliability by completing a 1,200-mile round trip to lap the Nurburgring. This is a good, honest daily driver with age-appropriate patina, and the extensive mechanical work undertaken by the current owner ensures it's got plenty of day-to-day use ahead of it.
