The Appeal
The Ferrari 308 GT4, originally badged as a Dino, was the brand’s first mid-engined V8 model, paving the way for huge success in the segment during the decades that followed. The 308 GT4 is notable for being the only production Ferrari to have ever been styled by Bertone, and its unmistakably 1970s wedge shape has since gained greater appreciation.
This example – one of 547 right-hand drive examples from a total factory production run of 2,826 – was originally the demonstrator vehicle for the Ferrari dealer in Leicester, and so was fitted with a host of extra features, including air conditioning, wider Campagnolo wheels, metallic paint and leather interior. The current seller state they bought it in 2022 and the car has been serviced annually by Rardley Motors.
More recent work has included changing the clutch, replacing the rear suspension bushes and the gear leakage, rebuilding the air conditioning pump and fitting new Michelin tyres. The seller notes that they had planned to have a better alloy weld made to the engine sump, as it currently drips.
This vehicle has a comprehensive and well-documented history, including 31 MOT certificates and an identity document from Ferrari specialist Mike Wheeler & Rardley Motors.
The seller states:
“this is one of the best of the GT4's that has not been fully restored; it's proved to be reliable, fun to drive and has been on the continent every year that I have owned it, where it seems to attract more attention than it does in the UK, and the V8 makes a fantastic noise through the sports exhaust.”image.png5.34 MB
