1979 Honda CBX1000

Highlights

  • Excellent condition
  • Performs superbly
  • Well maintained and cared for
  • Just 4 former keepers

The Appeal

At one point in time, the CBX1000 was Honda’s flagship superbike, known for its enormous air-cooled straight-six engine, and beautiful styling.

This particular example has taken Honda’s beauty to the next level, now featuring an enlarged displacement of a whopping 1450CC…
In addition to having a ludicrous amount of power to play with, this example is in superb condition and has received a tremendous level of care and maintenance over the years.

If you’re looking for a stunning, classic bike that will blow the socks off even modern bikes, this CBX1000 should be your first and only choice.

The History and Paperwork

  • Registered in the UK in 1994
  • Just 4 former owners in the UK
  • Well maintained example
  • V5C document present
  • Plenty of invoices
This beautiful CBX comes with a fantastic amount of paperwork, which includes previous MOT certificates, owner’s manuals, the V5C document, and a huge array of invoices.

These invoices detail key items, such as a big bore kit and full engine rebuild, courtesy of renowned technician advisor, Carl Woodcock.

The Exterior

  • Gorgeous blue finish
  • Excellent condition
  • Wire spoke wheels
  • Classic Honda styling
The CBX1000 is certainly a handsome bike, one that is recognizable near instantly, thanks to its enormous straight six power plant towards the front.

This example shows off a sublime blue finish, with light silver detailing. The paintwork is in superb condition for its age, with hardly any noticeable signs of damage throughout the painted surfaces.
This bike also sports a set of wire-spoke wheels, which are quite a welcome upgrade over the dated-looking original 5-spokes. In keeping with the surrounding brightwork, the spokes and lips are in excellent condition, retaining a great deal of shine.

As the photos reflect, the seat is also in excellent condition, with hardly any signs of use.
Given the tremendous level of care shown to this bike by the current owner, it should come as no surprise that the bike is easily one of the finer examples on the market. It sports beautiful paintwork, classy wire wheels and now presents itself with very little to fault.

You will certainly be the envy of your fellow bikers when you’re out on this blue beauty.

The Mechanics

  • Air-cooled straight-six engine
  • Rebored to 1450cc
  • High output alternator
  • High output starter motor
  • Odyssey Extreme battery
  • Starts and performs brilliantly
As mentioned earlier this already rapid CBX now sports a greater displacement over the standard figure.

The big bore kit was carried out alongside a full engine rebuild and now leaves this punchy bike with 1450cc, a whopping 400cc over the original size.
To cope with the larger displacement, the current owner has fitted the bike with both a new starter motor, and alternator, both capable of keeping up with the new power demands.

In addition to fitting these, the current owner has maintained the bike as part of a collection, servicing it regularly and giving the vehicle anything as required.

Summary

There are few classic bikes on the market that perfectly merge impressive performance, beautiful styling, and a fantastic maintenance record, but this Honda takes the crown.

The bike looks absolutely superb, performs very well thanks to its larger displacement, and now awaits the taste of the open road.

If you’re looking for a truly capable sports bike to enjoy this summer, this CBX1000 should be your first choice.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
