The Background

Fancy a night out to the pub? Or a breezy summer drive through the countryside? This MGB historic vehicle is an excellent choice.  On offer is what we believe to be one of the finest examples of an MGB on the market today.
The bodywork looks pleasing with very presentable black paintwork and is sure to have people look twice as you drive around in this magnificent beauty. This car is rather special as it has been cared for conscientiously, as reference to the service records will confirm.

Finished in gleaming black, with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very presentable" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. The car is also fitted with wire wheels, which are also in super condition.

The History

The MGB is a sports car launched by MG Cars in May 1962 to replace the MGA and was manufactured until 22 October 1980, originally by the British Motor Corporation and later by its successors.

The MGB currently holds a record for the best-selling sports car of all time, selling just over 500,000 units in its lifespan. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction. It utilized a monocoque structure that reduced both weight and manufacturing costs as well as adding chassis strength.

This was a considerable improvement in comparison to that of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on the earlier MGA and T-type models, as well as the MGB's rival, the Triumph TR series. The design included wind-up windows and a comfortable driver's compartment, with plenty of legroom and a parcel shelf behind the seats. The MGB's performance was brisk for the period, with a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of just over 11 seconds, aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of the MGB's strong points.
This historic vehicle has had only 2 previous owners and has been well maintained since first owned. Sadly, due to not much use the current owner has decided to sell it, making it a very reluctant but necessary sale.

The Paperwork

The owner possesses the original V5C document issued by the DVLA to confirm proof of ownership, specifications, addresses and history. The car has a full specialist service and maintenance record as well.

The owner has also kept and maintained all invoices of the parts replaced. You won’t find such an appreciative automobile owner who values his car.

The Interior

Possibly the best aspect of driving this historic vehicle is its long-legged comfort if you’re using it on a regular basis. Unlike a Triumph TR or a big Healey, the MGB was designed with concessions toward regular use which make it more appealing than its rivals here and now in 2021. When it comes to getting comfortable, it’s important to try an MGB for size.
Overall, this car looks like a treat - with the exterior complementing the Leatherette Upholstery, walnut effect trim dash, paired nicely with its dials giving it classy and vintage look while still retaining its original carpets. Additionally, the car has got a nice wooden steering wheel that goes perfect with the age of this historic vehicle.

The Exterior

The elegant black on this car makes it look quite sublime, making anyone fall in love with the car on the spot, and remains in a very presentable condition till date.

This was originally a rubber bumper model and was professionally converted to chrome bumpers as part of a historic extensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration. Riding on wire wheels and sporting leatherette upholstery, this MGB has a nice spacious trunk in the rear with a spare tyre.

The Mechanics

The MGB was designed to be more of a grand tourer than an out and out, pants-on-fire sports car. The engine is torquay and well geared, the suspension delivers a ride that by sports car standards is pleasantly yielding, however, there are a few vices. It’s a car that will have you re-evaluating the way you drive, reconnecting you with the simple joy of driving.
The gearbox is pleasant too, with a good shift action and well-chosen ratios. Equipped with the desirable overdrive gearbox, this unique MGB roadster comes with a very rare removable hardtop. The Engine is a standard spec, boasting a 1.8 litre engine and is amazing to drive in, while not putting a dent on your wallet concerning the price of gasoline these days.

The Appeal

The appeal of owning a MGB Roadster speaks for itself – it is the quintessential British sports car, big engine up front and rear wheel drive, very hard to find in the modern age.
It is a superb example of a simple British open top classic motoring at palatable cost, perfect for those lazy summer days. With its combination of late series running gear and early series aesthetics, this appealing Roadster is summed-up by the seller as "a very enjoyable drive and a pleasure to own".

Overall, the car is in very presentable condition. It starts well and drives with no obvious faults being evident but having said that the seller now strongly recommends a good going over before any road use as there may be faults which are not noted.
