The Appeal
In standard form, the 924 sat at the lower end of Porsche's transaxle hierarchy, but the Turbo was something altogether different. The addition of forced induction significantly increased the car's performance, upping horsepower from around 100 to 170. Porsche also added uprated brakes and distinctive NACA duct to cool the turbo. These cars are increasingly recognised as some of the best-driving classic Porsches.
This 1980 example wears Guards Red over a Beige Pascha Sports interior: a combination the vendor describes as extremely striking. It is said to be unrestored and original throughout. A previous keeper is understood to have dry stored the car and only ever trailered it to shows and exhibitions, while the current owner, who purchased it from Peter Vardy Classics in Edinburgh in 2021, has driven it only during dry summer months, covering approximately 1,000 miles per year.
The vendor reports that the car starts well both hot and cold, with a smooth clutch and keen brakes; a usable classic that is said to be equally at home in town, on the motorway or along a winding B road.image.png1.62 MB
