The Appeal
The Land Rover Series III needs little introduction. Rugged, characterful and endlessly capable, it is one of the most recognisable vehicles ever built - and its starring role alongside Daniel Craig in the opening Jamaican scenes of No Time To Die (2021) was befitting of an already iconic car.
This particular example is a faithful recreation of that very car. It's all present and correct - finished in Marine Blue with Limestone wheels, a spare wheel mounted on the bonnet and the matching UK registration plate 733 PFP. Described as the only official UK-registered and road-legal Series III carrying the film car's plates - a genuinely unique piece of Bond memorabilia.
The vendor informs us that the vehicle is in very good structural and mechanical condition, with the engine starting readily and running well. It has been dry stored throughout and has covered very few miles since the restoration, showing 21,240 miles on the odometer. It holds Historic Vehicle status and has a valid MOT until January 2027, having been recently serviced and prepared for sale. Supporting documentation for the rebuild is included.
If you're a big Bond aficionado, this could well be one of the ultimate additions to your collection.

The vendor adds: "An amazing opportunity to own the only official UK registered and road legal series III Land Rover made famous by 007 in the 2021 movie No Time to Die. A one-of-a-kind piece of James Bond memorabilia, this beautiful 1981 marine blue Land Rover is in excellent structural and mechanical condition, with the patina finish that tells its own stories of adventure and excitement.
Of interest to those who love both Bond and Land Rover, 733 PFP is a one off replica of the car used by Daniel Craig during the opening scenes of the 25th Bond movie, and is unique in officially carrying the matching registration plates for the UK.
This Land Rover, with only 22,000 miles in the clock, holds Historic Vehicle status so is tax and MOT exempt. However, it currently holds a valid MOT until January 2027 and has recently been serviced and prepared for sale (see details below). The car itself comes with wonderful provenance, and has been lovingly restored at various times over its 45 year lifetime, always utilising as much of the original build as possible to maintain a car true to its roots.
It was the cover star of Classic Land Rover magazine in 2016 (see attached), following a meticulous renovation by Steve Pickles at Fylde Land Rover, who carried out two rounds of renovations on the car over its lifetime." JSH08309-HDR.jpg199.21 KB

The vendor adds: "Originally with the plate HEC 581X, ‘Hector’ was bought new from Hadwins of Torver, near Coniston Water in the Lake District. He was used on a farm for seven years before being bought by Steve for renovation. Externally, Hector looked worse for wear, but mechanically had been very well maintained. Steve replaced all the body panels, fitted a New Cross-member and replaced the fuel tank outriggers. New seats went in and it was resprayed Marine Blue inside and out. Once sold, Steve regularly serviced and maintained Hector for the next eight years, with regular waxoyling. Unfortunately, Hector was sold on without Steve knowing, and for the next eight years, he spent time towing ice-cream trailers on Blackpool beach and working as a builder's van. Maintenance dropped off, and it was eventually abandoned outside a garage in the Fylde countryside. It was in 2005 that Steve spotted the car across the fields and, on closer inspection, recognised Hector and left a message for the owner offering to buy the car once more. A few days later, his offer was accepted, and Hector joined about 20 other Series Land Rovers in his yard, waiting for its turn for attention. Five years later, the previous owner contacted Steve to see if he could have first refusal on Hector after restoration, which had not yet begun. When Steve restores a Land Rover, he gives it a sympathetic and authentic rebuild utilising as much of the original vehicle as possible. He aims to produce a smart and sound usable vehicle rather than a concours winner. He restored Hector during 2012-13, in between his regular garage work."
Nut and bolt restoration carried out in 2013, the second renovation in the car's history
True to the Land Rover's legendary on-screen appearance, right down to the spare on the bonnet
Marine Blue paintwork with Limestone wheels, presenting with a patina finish
Gentle wear throughout the car, all adding to its movie-accurate character
All galvanising was stripped and redone during the restoration
Canvas soft top with hood stick set and window channels
Spare wheel mounted on the bonnet per the Bond film specification
The vehicle has been dry stored and has covered very few miles since the restoration
New fuel tank fitted
The Vendor elaborates for the 2012 restoration: "On the bodywork, any damaged panels were replaced, and they all were prepared for re-spraying, which was done in-house. All trim and cappings were sent to Pillar Wedge Group in Manchester for galvanising. Panels and door tops & bottoms were supplied by Britpart, as was a new passenger footwell that was welded into place. New seats were supplied by Exmoor Trim, as was a new canvas roof, as Hector became a soft top for the first time. Inside, the instruments and switchgear are all original, as is the steering wheel, which underwent restoration by a specialist."
2.25-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with five-bearing crankshaft
4-speed manual gearbox with Fairey overdrive
11-inch front dual-line brakes (late Series III specification)
Fully overhauled in 2013 restoration
The vendor states the engine starts readily and runs well
The vendor elaborates on the 2013 overhaul: "The chassis was in good condition and didn’t need to be replaced, but was treated to anti-corrosive fluid and painted with black stone-resistant paint. Various outriggers were replaced, as well as the dumb irons, and a new rear crossmember was fitted. Both axles were dismantled, cleaned and painted, and all moving parts were inspected and replaced where necessary, including the swivel pin housings and bearings. New springs and shock absorbers were fitted with new bushes and pins. The braking system was fully overhauled with new brake pipes, shoes, drums and brake cylinders fitted. The steering relay unit was replaced along with the track rod ends and the front tracking tube. The engine was in good condition, but new pistons and rings were fitted. The cylinder head was stripped and all carbon removed. The valves were reground, and new stem oil seals and gaskets were fitted. The bores had little wear, and Steve believes that the five-bearing crank engines such as this one last longer than the earlier three-bearing versions. A new timing chain was fitted, a replacement radiator sourced, and all hoses were replaced with new items. All the clutch components were replaced, including the hydraulic cylinders. The fuel tank was replaced and the fuel system serviced. A new battery was fitted, and most of the electrical components were replaced, including the headlights, which were upgraded to halogens. The transmission and transfer box were in good condition, so they were serviced with new oil seals and gaskets. A Fairey overdrive was fitted at this time as well."
