The Appeal

Arguably the go to brand for quality sports cars, MG were always leading the pack when it came to stylish, dynamic automobiles, and none so more than the MGB GT. The perfect recipe of performance style and value meant the lightweight 2 door Pininfarina styled coupe was an absolute hit,  the little GT quickly won the hearts of many and proudly boasts icon status to this day, standing as one of the most recognisable classic cars of all time.
NTT 131W  is a lovely example of the adored model, a desirable chrome bumper conversion, it perfectly blends the improved driving prowess of the later rubber bumpered cars with the elegant, suave styling of those glorious early chrome bumper models. Having been lovingly cared for and well maintained throughout its current ownership, it stands today in great clean form and will surely make a welcome addition to the driveway of any devoted MG enthusiast.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered February 1981
  • Purchased by the current owner to keep as part of a fleet of classic cars
  • Maintained and serviced by the current owner, a former BMC garage technician
  • Both MOT and tax exempt due to the car’s age and historic status
  • As we understand, the V5 registration document is present with the vehicle

The Interior

  • Well preserved interior space, in what is reported to be good highly original form
  • Black interior plastics and upholstery
  • Upholstery is said to be in good clean form throughout
  • Small area of tarnishing on some of the rear interior side trim by the tailgate struts
  • Interior switchgear looks to be in good clean form with minimal signs of wear or age to be seen
  • Vendor informs that a radio CD player has been installed with speakers fitted in the door panels
  • Headlining is said to be well fitting and of a great quality
  • New MG rubber floor mats are said to have been fitted

The Exterior

  • Striking, timeless metallic grey exterior colour scheme
  • Rubber bumper car converted to earlier chrome bumper specification
  • Paintwork is of a great standard throughout, with very minimal to be seen in the way of blemishing or age related marking
  • Vendor informs us that the car was restored and repainted a number of years ago
  • Four great quality Minilite wheels reside at ground level
  • Great quality chrome trim used throughout, exhibiting with a wonderful shine
  • Some flaking to the finish can be seen on the iconic front grille piece, however it is still wholly presentable within the car
  • Glass work is in fine form throughout
  • Panel gaps appear straight and consistent across the car
  • An entirely well presented example of the beloved Pininfarina designed coupe in an unusual, suave colour scheme

The Mechanics

  • Legendary 1.8 litre B Series engine resides in the front of the car
  • Reported to be in great overall mechanical order, having been well maintained and serviced by the current owner
  • Fitted with overdrive which is in good working order as we understand
  • Vendor informs that the car has been recently serviced and the following tasks performed
    • Tappet adjustment
    • Electronic ignition fitted
    • New radiator, 
    • New alternator
    • New ignition Switch
    • Front brake callipers and Pads, 
    • 3 flexible brake hoses
    • New 12 volt Battery
  • During its previous ownership the MG is said to have had new rear brakes, adjustable rear shock absorbers, ignition coil, distributor cap, HT Leads, front coil springs, stainless exhaust, clutch master cylinder and an oil cooler radiator fitted
  • A later rubber bumper car with improved drivability and dynamic prowess
  • The car is said to fire into life comfortably and with ease, with a lovely engine note
  • Backed by a vast community of enthusiasts and parts suppliers
