The Appeal

The example offered for sale here is a wonderfully original car, which seems to have escaped modification or damage throughout its forty years on the road. The checked cloth seats are a great feature which it’s nice to see retained and the car overall is presented in very good condition.
A comprehensive history file accompanies the car, which tells us that it has been well serviced and cared for. We’re sure that it will prove popular among people who like to see an original car, very much as it was when it left the factory.

The Interior
- Said to be a totally original interior
- Great looking black vinyl and checked cloth upholstery
- Seat covers appear to be in great condition throughout, with only one tiny tear reported on the edge of the driver’s seat
- Headlining is secure, but some marks from the glue can be seen coming through
- Vinyl on door cards is sagging slightly
- Carpets in good clean condition
- Boot clean and tidy, with spare wheel
The Exterior
- The paintwork is in good presentable condition
- Some marks can be seen close up
- A little bubbling along the seam below the headlights
- Exterior fittings all present and correct
- Slight ripple reported in one A panel, but hardly visible
- New sills fitted previously
- The vendor tells us that there is no evidence of patches or bad repairs
- Wheels in excellent condition
- Four new Falken tyres fitted in August 2022
- Some welding carried out in 1999, to the floor and an inner wheel arch
- There is an MOT advisory for corrosion on the rear subframe, but the vendor tells us that the floors and sills are all solid
The Mechanics
- 998cc A Series engine
- Serviced in November 2021 including: engine oil and filter, spark plugs, points, condenser, rotor arm, distributor cap, rocker cover gasket, thermostat and housing
- Brakes overhauled in 2017, including new brake drums, cylinders and shoes all round
- Said to drive very nicely and accelerate well for a 998 Mini. The brakes reportedly work well and there are no issues with the gears
- Very minor oil leak
- Engine and gearbox said to be original to the car
Summary
This cracking little Mini has been left in pleasantly original condition, which is great to see. The checked cloth seats are a nice touch in the interior and the car is presented in good useable condition.
This is a car which you can be proud to be seen in, but which you also wouldn’t mind using as much as possible.
