The Appeal
Patina suits old Land Rovers, perhaps better than any other car. This one has it in spades.
An examination of the abundant photographs reveals this Series III to be a fine example of the marque, with a beautifully presented and thoroughly corrosion-protected chassis under that richly time-worn "Birmabright" bodywork. With its ex-Singapore military Defender 2.5NA diesel that's reportedly covered just 14,000 miles, this Series III has been thoughtfully modified while maintaining its authentic character. Other discreet changes include tan upholstery and black-painted steel wheels, which really suit the aesthetic.
When the vendor acquired the car, they gave the following brief to specialists Hayward Revive: "do whatever is needed mechanically to make it right and reliable."£2,300 later, in February 2024, the Land Rover was thoroughly gone through and ready to use. The specialist also complimented the car on its solid underpinnings.
The current owner has invested in numerous mechanical improvements and interior upgrades, creating a reliable classic that's just the thing in which to enjoy the remainder of summer.
