Mercedes Astral Silver paintwork is in good overall condition with only a small bubbling at the front of the bonnet and a scratch above the boot worthy of noting. The hardtop doesn’t quite match the excellent condition of the rest of the car as there are a few blisters noticeable
The chrome appears in good order with a nice shine but some areas are beginning to show signs of age, particularly around the boot as shown in the photos

On close inspection, it seems the wheel arches are all original with no evidence of filler being used anywhere. The DOHC straight-six is subline engine, producing around 185bhp, which is very respectable given the cars focus is really on luxury rather than high performance. With just 45,000 miles in its lifetime and so few done in recent years the car is probably crying out for good run which will no doubt be top of the winning bidders list. Starting on the button, the car reportedly handles beautifully and there are no issues to report or advise.
Most certainly a very desirable and timeless classic, the Mercedes 280SL is an outstanding option for anyone with a sense of style that wants to enjoy the comfort, refinement and handling that Mercedes’ from this era offer.
