The Appeal
The Australian outback without a J-Series Land Cruiser rolling past in a cloud of red dust is about as difficult to picture as the same scene devoid of kangaroos. Practically the legal definition of ‘rugged’ these tough ‘Troopy’ trucks have been keeping farmers mobile for decades.
This long wheelbase HJ47 arrived with the current keeper from Australia in 2013. He tells us that he is only the second keeper. It is a factory standard pick up with the durable 4L 6cyl diesel engine and is reported to have covered only 70,000 km (43,500 miles), which means it is barely run in.
Since moving it to the UK the vendor has used it very sparingly. Recent work includes refurbishing the steel wheels in correct factory grey, fitting new headlights and indicators and converting the speedo to MPH. There are a few cosmetic points to note, but a current voluntary MOT to August 2026 highlights only minor, non-structural points.
Interest in these J-series LandCruisers is on the rise. With its fascinating history, low miles, practical layout and honest condition, we know this one will appeal to enthusiasts.
