Building on the sales success of the XR3 and XR3i, in 1981 Ford launched the next step up in the performance hierarchy: the RS1600i. Boasting a more powerful engine, revised suspension and distinctive graphics and lights, production was limited to fewer than 9000 cars.
With Eighties performance cars very much in the ascendancy at the moment, they are highly sought after. This car appears to have started life on the continent and was imported to the UK in 2020 when it was treated to a restoration that included a bare metal respray.
With refreshed graphics and fully retrimmed seats, it now presents in a lovely condition and is sure to attract a lot of positive attention, both out in the wild and at car shows. As one of the most affordable ways into classic Ford RS ownership, this would be a great addition to any collection.
