The Appeal
Were it not for the 911, perhaps enthusiasts would have discovered the 928 earlier. Luckily, they have now, with the early pre-facelift rarities receiving particular attention, especially the high-performance ‘S’ model with its 4.7L 300bhp V8.
This 1983 ‘S’ looks very attractive in burgundy metallic over a grey leather cabin. It is a tidy and very usable example that the current keeper has driven across Europe on road trips and rallies. That proves one of the 928’s key ingredients - its quality build and reliability.
The vendor acquired the car in 2018 and we’re told has maintained it regularly. In 2025, it went to Porsche Brooklands for a wide-ranging set of works to the mechanicals, including the ignition system and injectors.
The vendor describes the car as mechanically sound following all that recent investment. He suggests the interior could be improved, although it remains presentable in the photos. The car is now eligible for Historic Vehicle status, making it tax and MOT exempt, but carries a useful MOT to March 2026.
