The Appeal
The R107-generation Mercedes-Benz 280 SL pairs the smooth 2.7-litre inline-six with one of the most recognisable grand touring silhouettes of the 1980s. With a four-speed automatic gearbox, it remains a popular choice among collectors and enthusiasts alike.
This 1984 example was purchased by the current owner from a local seller whose father had kept it for many years, and it was acquired for sentimental reasons; the owner's mother had one in the same colour. Reportedly garaged throughout its life, it shows 38,955 miles on the odometer and presents in its Blue-Green metallic over a grey interior with plaid fabric seat inserts. It has since been inspected by the SL Shop and has had a service and advisory work completed at Albert Lock. Accompanied by its maintenance booklet, V5C, MOT certificates and invoices, this 280 SL is ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian.

BidderDear Rob, I can see some paperwork from SL Shop some are estimates and invoices, could you kindly confirm the total amount of the invoices from the SL Shop. Thank you

SellerI got them to do an assessment but got Albert Lock to do the work as they are way too expensive. Albert Lock is an old chap in Rushden, Mercedes send him the old school cars when they don’t know how to do it, he’s got a very good reputation.

We’ve had a similar car since 2000 - they are remarkably well built and superbly reliable.

SellerAgree, old cars can feel quite lose, but this feels remarkably new and steering is so direct, but with old world style something which new cars cannot possibly replicate.

Can you please say what the ownership history is? how many and is mileage verifiable. thanks
Rob Faw••••
SellerHi Graham I know of 2 owners which were a father and son, I bought off the son. There’s lots of history to show the mileage is genuine, you are welcome to view, I think given the age, you will see how the cars drives and how tight it is in the steering that it’s a low mileage car. You are welcome to try
